| Now in the hands of Paul Moran, formerly of The Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, this Bendigo bar and restaurant offers Bridge Street regulars a stylishly fitted brasserie with an unpretentious attitude. The menu is fittingly elegant with a homely touch, speckled with local produce, such as the 190-day grain-fed Hopkins River beef fillet with potato dauphine, mushroom fricassee, saut chard and bordelaise sauce. A little less formal bar menu offers just as enticing gourmet burgers, fish and chips, Black Angus steak, and a range of pizza and pasta.
Examining the international and local wine list inspires a moment of awe at the far-reaching scope of The Bridge's vision, which traverses regions as diverse as Victoria's Grampians and France's Loire Valley, with varietals from Spain, Italy and Germany selected along the way.
