Scenic attractions The Murray
The Murray region is home to lakes and rivers, sand dunes and desert, stands of red gum forest, spectacular sunsets and ancient aboriginal history.
The majestic Murray River winds its way through the region from Corryong to Mildura, and is met by the Darling River at Wentworth. Climb the viewing tower at Junction Park in Wentworth to see the confluence of the two rivers – a spectacular display of swirling waters. Experience the river on a houseboat or an historic paddle steamer and enjoy the tranquillity as you drift past pristine sandy beaches and forests of giant river gums.
Head north-west to experience the Australian outback – wide open landscapes, arid red soil, shifting sand dunes and dry creek beds. Explore the sand hills of Mungo National Park, a sublime, ancient environment containing some of Australia's most significant Aboriginal sites, or visit the Perry Sandhills just outside Wentworth where you will find 400 acres of rolling red sandhills.
