Overview
Experience the warmth of open fires and country style hospitality at The Station House, Daylesford. Set on three acres is the circa 1853 homestead built by an American during the gold rush.
The Manor Guesthouse was constructed in 1995 to compliment the 1850's homestead. These two colonial style homes nestle tranquilly together on a pretty rural and residential property, close to the centre of town.
The old Homestead features four bedrooms and two with open fires. The two bathrooms have claw foot baths, lounge and open fire, a conservatory is the breakfast area. Each room has been decorated to reflect the property heritage. Two bedrooms convert to twin share.
The eight ensuite bedroom manor has been eclectically decorated to reflect the 160 years of multicultural heritage. The elegant lounge has two grand open fires to relax in front of together with a foyer with a picturesque outlook over a pond to the countryside.
The new Manor consists of two large bedrooms, four medium double or twin bedrooms and two small single bedrooms. Other features are the all around veranda, barbecue, large grounds with gardens, free off-street parking, meeting area.
Close by is the Sunday markets which are just across the road. Restaurants are within short walking distance, a few minutes drive to Hepburn Springs spa baths as well as other interesting activities in the area.
The Guesthouse can be used for many things such as small conferences, group gatherings and small weddings.
The 'hours of stay' can be extended at $5 per room per half hour. Good value pricing and minimum two nights for groups on weekends. Couples and singles can book within two months of arrival date.

Standard | Standard rooms are located either in homestead or small ensuite bedrooms in the manor for a max of two persons. Rooms are primarily suited as singles in the manor. Very cosy and clean, with central heating, television, DVD, tea and coffee and bedding set as double in homestead and manor and one as a twin. Deluxe | Medium size bedroom with are for two people, a mix of queen bed, king bed and double beds. Some rooms can configure into two separate single beds. Cancellation and booking policy
Cancellation fees apply. A minimum 50 per cent holding deposit is required and no refund after 24 hours. Some occasions a refund can be offered and, or an alternate date can be arranged. Reservations are subject to website terms and conditions. Group bookings are subject to full payment of part cancellation of booking.

Historic Guesthouse Location in Old Gold Mining Town and Mineral Reserve
The Station House Daylesford was a former guesthouse named the Laurels back in the days of horse drawn coaches. Later passengers arrived by the train and now by car. The owner back then was the first to start bottling mineral water for sale and was appointed the 'Borough' water forman. Also he was a mine manager engineer at a close by mine 'Concordia' at Kidds Gully. Other local land mark structures were also built by the first occupier of this site. The township was called Wombat back then, but now known as Daylesford. The land was a former sheep run until gold was found where the Daylesford Lake is now located. The licence holder of the sheep run was overrun by miners during the gold rush and so instigated a subdivison of his land lease rights that allowed businesses pop up in support of mining. The sheep run was a former aboriginal protecterate. That area was later defined as land north of Mt Franklin and East of Jim Crow Creek also named after an aboriginal character of the time. The Laurels guesthouse finished circa 1926 and later became a ice-works for a while and the local milk dairy owners worked dairy trucks from this land. Then in 1994 the homestead reverted back to a guesthouse. The original builder of the house was an American from Vermont north of N.Y. (known for the Autum trees) and located on the boarder of Canada. This property played its part in the early years of developement of Victoria and locally, by providing some confort to travelers. Not only in accommodation, but use the outside doubled seated dunny which still exists for historical purpose only (of course the toilets are inside now). Many changes have been made but the history has been retained.
Tourist Railway Opposite the Station House Daylesford
Every Sunday the Daylesford Central Highlands railway opposite provides train trips as well as a Sunday market. A train can be hired for special events such as weddings, wine tasting, group party food and beverages etc. This can also extend to or from gatherings at the Station House Daylesford.
