Sea-Safari on Lakes-Explorer offer a unique and educational boat trip at Lakes Entrance on the calm Gippsland Lakes waterways.

Join a two hour Rigby Island Sea-Safari on the research vessel Lakes-Explorer. Up to ten passengers will travel the waterways, observing, identifying and monitoring sea-birds and marine life using work-books and binoculars supplied. A one-hour Harbour Sea-Safari is also available.

The Rigby Island Sea-Safari includes a short guided walk on a unique island or coastline. Sea-Safaris generally depart at 10am and only if the weather is suitable. Lakes-Explorer is a modern, comfortable vessel, with padded seats, weather protection and easy access.

Lakes-Explorer is also available for private charter or as a Water-Taxi to remote locations including Barrier Landing, Rigby Island, The Entrance and North Arm.

Sea-Safari will only run if weather is suitable. Bookings to be made on the day before. Water-taxi available 6am - 10pm.

Sea-Safari is an educational trip on the calm waterways of the Gippsland Lakes (Lakes Entrance). You can either enjoy the one hour Harbour and Ocean Entrance Sea-Safari or the two and a half hours Rigby Island Sea-Safari.

Passengers should wear suitable clothing and footwear, bring personal sun protection, food and drinking water. Quality binoculars and identification guides are available for use on Lakes-Explorer MSV 11438.

Lakes-Explorer does not have a toilet however some on-shore stops are close to public toilets.

Lakes-Explorer may be booked as a water taxi between various locations close to Lakes Entrance including Flagstaff Jetty, Barrier Landing, Rigby Island, Fraser Island, North Arm, Winery Jetty and Nyerimilang Beach. This is subject to suitable weather. Lakes-Explorer Water Taxi operates between 7am - 10pm or as required with plenty of space for luggage. If urgent, please call the operator.
