Wonders of Wildlife Ecotour

Tour operated by: Gippsland High Country Tours

Address: PO Box 69, Bruthen, Victoria 3885

Gippsland High Country Tours shows you Australia's wildlife, the diverse, shy and often elusive with many species rarely seen by the casual visitor.

Led by a Naturalist guide, discover many fascinating facts about wildlife while valuable data is collected on distribution and ecology of species to help ensure they enjoy a more secure future.

Have great fun and join in your choice of activities which include birdwatching, trapping and release of small mammals for data collection, identifying animal tracks and traces, searching for frogs, evening spotlight walks and more.

Two different destinations with Gippsland High Country Tours.

The Snowy River National Park boasts magnificent scenery and is host to a diversity of wildlife habitats, however there has been little documentation of wildlife species present in some parts of the Park. Enjoy lush ferny Mountain Ash forest, dry open woodland with great views over the Snowy Valley and other rich and varied forest habitats.

The Haunted Stream is a beautiful river valley with a haunting history. Bushfire in the past decade has altered habitats and our survey is to record post fire response of wildlife as the bush regenerates.

Escape from the pressures of your everyday life and experience the serenity and solitude of the High Country and East Gippsland on a range of packaged eco-tours and walks with Gippsland High Country Tours.

Gaze over a sea of mountains, breathe in the clear mountain air and touch the smooth trunks of the snow-gums. Experience deserted beaches or ancient forests.

Relax and take time to smell the fragrant bush scents and listen to the bird calls amidst the tranquillity of the forest.

Wander along fern-lined tracks beneath towering eucalypts or across alpine grasslands with wildflowers at your feet.

Take your time, appreciate the beauty and listen as your guide explains the interaction of plants and animals who call the High Country home. Wildlife sightings are common and leisurely pace allows time for bird watching.

Join a small friendly group of nature lovers led by experienced local guides keen to share their love and knowledge of the natural world with you. Magnificent scenery, rich history and diverse flora and fauna.

Your guides know too that you need a balance of activity and relaxation time, so as well as structured activities and walking, each departure allows time to relax and enjoy nature and the unique environments you visit. Enjoy solitude, peace and tranquillity and return home truly refreshed.

Regular departures offer choices of easy ecotours with short walks, Walking Ecotours with moderate day walks, and sometimes challenging bushwalks exploring wilderness areas for serious adventurers. Choose accommodation or camping.

Special departures include participation in wildlife research projects, offering a chance to contribute to conservation of threatened species.
