The Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine as open for everyone to come and learn about their past history in Walhalla. Walhalla is an original living historic gold mining town.

Created by the discovery of gold in 1862, this mine was commenced in 1865 by the original hercules gold mining company, working their way to Cohen's reef. When they did not find payable gold, the mine was sold on to 'the long tunnel extended gold mining company no liability' in 1871.

Over the Walhalla Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine's 40 year history, it produced 440,312 troy ounces of gold or 13,695 kilograms.

The Walhalla Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine is wheelchair and stroller friendly.

Tours do operate on total fire ban days, but not if declared code red fire alert day.

Walhalla is a original living historic gold mining town, this is where the Walhalla Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine is located.

The population was over 4,800 people at Walhalla's peak. There is now less than 25 permanent people living in Walhalla and the nearby surrounding area.

Walhalla Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine location is north of the small village of Walhalla, past the band rotunda, up 600 metres, turn left over Stringers Creek, across the concrete bridge, then proceed up the hill to the two top car, bus and coach parking areas.
