Spanning 31 days and nights, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale provides a focus for the most exciting and innovative Australian and international photographers through exhibitions held in the Art Gallery of Ballarat, The Mining Exchange and 90 other significant venues across Ballarat.

The Biennale comprises a curated Core Program showcasing both Australian and international artists and a Fringe Program that fosters the development of new artists. The festival has positively impacted the Ballarat region and was honoured at the Ballarat 2016 Australia Day Awards as the Community Activity of the Year.

The vision for this year's Biennale raises the bar, with more events and chances for audiences to engage with the photographic image in all its forms – from established to amateur. The 2017 program also has workshops, portfolio reviews, talks and outdoor activities spread over five weekends. Encouraging you to plan your stay, strolling Ballarat’s charming streets and engaging deeply with the photographic image.

Ballarat International Foto Biennale will present the world on your doorstep - celebrating and creating a shared, exciting perspective of how you see your surrounds, your community and yourself.
