For a dose of soul food, don’t miss the fifth annual Bendigo Writers Festival, which takes over the historic arts precinct from August 12 to 14. There are more than 100 writers, big names this year include journalists Kerry O’Brien and Sarah Ferguson, novelists Helen Garner and Anna Goldsworthy, and controversial characters Peter Singer and Julian Assange – who will headline the festival via video. The festival also features local writers and volunteers, making it a true reflection of a creative city. See full program on our website. The festival provides a forum to meet and talk about books and writing, and, mostly, to enjoy the conviviality of a festival set in View Street, Bendigo. There are interviews and debates about everything; you can be sure you’ll find something to delight, amuse, intrigue and stimulate. Everyone is invited to share in a warm and friendly winter weekend. So come and help make Bendigo Writers Festival 2016 one to remember.
