'The original vineyard was established in 1865, and in the last century more than 3 kilometres of underground tunnels were dug by miners for Sparkling wine maturation. Two real jewels here are the complex and intriguing Show Sparkling Shiraz and the polished and integrated St Peter's Shiraz. Great Western, and its world famous "Drives", are the home of sparkling and table wine production.

This diverse range of classics includes such iconic wines as Seppelt "Salinger" Pinot Noir Chardonnay, Great Western Show Sparkling Shiraz and "St Peters" Great Western Shiraz.

Great Western Winery was established in 1865, and in 1868 more than 1.5 kilometres of underground tunnels were dug by miners for sparkling wine maturation, known as "Drives". Once completed in 1932 the "Drives" reached 3 kilometres in length.

These unique underground cellars are home to some iconic wines produced throughout the years at Seppelt. Amongst these wines guests can enjoy a Dinner to remember or maybe say "I do" for that ultimate Wedding Experience.

From Melbourne travel along the Western Highway, pass Ballarat, pass through Ararat, then 15 mins travelling time you will reach the quaint township of Great Western. Seppelt Winery is located on the lefthand side on entering the township.

Closed Christmas Day "Deep in the Drives" Underground Tours Monday - Saturday 11am, 2pm "Drives by Candlelite" Underground Tours the last Saturday of every month or by booking for 10 or more persons. "Ghost and Gourmet" Underground Tours, conducted for 10 or more persons on the day you choose. Start with a gourmet BBQ then head off at dusk for the underground tour all by lanterns.

Located in the beautiful Grampians area, Seppelt offers a variety of unique venue options for conferences, weddings and special events. Vine Lodge is an historic homestead situated on the winery grounds. This unique venue provides an alternative for boardroom meetings and conferences. The Lodge accommodates 20 pax in boardroom style with a separate dining room that can cater for buffet lunches and morning/afternoon teas. BBQ's and lunches can be arranged in the court yard or garden with formal dining available in the ballroom. Accommodation at Seppelt - Historic Vine Lodge Homestead which can accommodate 12 persons (5 queen & 2 singles) and Winemakers Quarters which can also accommodate 6 persons (3 doubles). Vine Lodge Homestead is a gracious federation style 5 bedroom home built in the 1890's that displays the opulent splendour of the early era. Treat yourself to a "Step back in time" amongst the vineyards of Great Western. Winemakers Quarters more for that single stay or family getaway in a unique historic winery, this house built in the 1970's boasts large living quarters, kitchen, bathroom and 3 double bedrooms. Currently occupied by Seppelt Winemakers during Vintage situated in one of the finest native gardens in the region.

Drives by Candlelite Tours & Ghost & Gourmet Tours
Seppelt Great Western "Private Drives by Candlelight Tour" is a night to remember! Prepare to be amazed as we take you on an eerie and enthralling journey through the newest Seppelt tour experience, starting with gourmet cheese platter, a glass of Seppelt Premium wine before travelling through the darkness of the unique underground cellars with candlelight lanterns. You may hear some interesting stories and if you're lucky meet a local resident. Another option is 'Ghost & Gourmet Night Tours'. On arrival at Cellar Door your group will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of our famous bubbly. Relax and enjoy a sumptuous Gourmet BBQ before heading off with your lantern on our fascinating and fun filled night tour of the cemetery and underground cellars. Or for that ultimate experience why not treat yourself to our 'Dine Deep' Night tour. Begin your night with a glass of our famous sparkling along with Gourmet Cheese Platters. Your guide will then take you through our cellars with lanterns telling tales of the yester year. Once you have survived your tour you will then be seated to a 2 course buffet dinner with Seppelt's iconic premium wines in the Brandy Nook drives amongst where dignitaries house their private wines.
