Tolka Cottage is a short walk to the Glenelg River where you can see platypus, kangaroos, wallabies, emus, koalas and over 140 species of birds including the endangered red-tailed black cockatoo. This wildlife haven is located only one hours from the Penola and Coonawarra wine region, Mount Gambier Blue Lakes, Nelson and Portland on the coast and the Hamilton and Grampians region.
The horse facilities including paddocks, yards and stables make it an ideal location to take your horse on holiday.
Tolka Cottage is located in the centre of the Wilkin Flora and Fauna Reserve on the banks of the Glenelg River. There are walking and riding trails as well as four wheel drive access through 3600 hectares of native bush where wildlife abounds. The Reserve is renowned for its orchids and spring wildflowers are a beautiful attraction from August to October.
Tolka Cottage has a formal sitting room and informal sunroom as well as outdoor entertaining area with barbecue. There are three bedrooms, one queen sized, one double and one with two single beds. They supply luxurious linen, towel, doonas and electric blankets.
All the ingredients for a great country style breakfast are provided including bacon, farm fresh eggs, tomatoes, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, homemade jams and bread, filter coffee and your choice of teas. Picnic hampers and provisions for other meals can be ordered by prior arrangement.
There are many other attractions not far from the Cottage. You can enjoy the annual Kelpie Muster in June or walk the Kelpie Trail in Casterton.
Explore Bailey's Rocks, Dundas Tableland, Warrock Homestead, Bilston's Tree, the Hummocks and Dartmoor and return in the evening to the tranquil, peaceful and comfortable Tolka Cottage.
