Overview
South Channel fort is a unique and highly significant 19th Century artificial island. It was built as part of the strategic defence network of Port Phillip. The fort features old gun emplacements, a labyrinth of underground passages and stunning views over the bay.
This 2 hour tour takes you on a voyage across Port Phillip Bay to South Channel Fort for a guided tour of the island. The tour includes access to the underground passages, small lobbies and magazines only accessible via licensed tour operators. After a fascinating guided walk on South Channel Fort we will return via the Australian Fur Seal haul out at Chinaman's Hat and the Australasian Gannet colony at Pope's Eye.
Sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
