Overview
The National Celtic Festival is held annually over the June long weekend in Portarlington. It is now the southern hemisphere's largest and most diverse celebration of Celtic music and culture. Every year festival-goers enjoy a huge array of national and international acts.
Enjoy the diversity and discover the fascinating cultures of the seven unique Celtic lands represented - Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall, the Isle of Man and Galicia and Asturias. Delve into your own Celtic heritage or learn about the Celts who came from across the seas to help shape this great country into what it is today.
Absorb the setting of the beautiful township of Portarlington is nestled between some of Australia's best vineyards and the tranquil waters of Corio Bay, on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula. With all festival venues in easy walking distance why not stop a while to chat with the friendly locals and take in the glorious views across the bay to the You Yangs and Melbourne skyline.
Feel the music and enjoy a packed program of world-class musical acts from Friday night through to Monday afternoon. Marvel at the lightening fast fingers of entrants in the National Golden Fiddle Awards; and let your spirit sour with the pure voices at the Gaelic choir concert. From traditional to contemporary the festival showcases Celtic music in all its diverse forms and crossover styles.
Cosy and heated, the festival's venues are within easy walking distance. There's a great pub with open fires, the Wine Bar, Celtic Club, a heritage restaurant, historic churches and more. You can even enjoy performances from a variety of Celtic acts while sailing across the bay on the majestic tall ship The Enterprize.
Experience... a culture. Discover... a passion. Unleash... a spirit.
