Set in a hectare of English woodland garden on the banks of the Ovens River, Merrimeet is a Tudor grand house accompanied by three mews garden apartments and three riverbank cottages.
Wood fire heaters, corner spa baths and reverse cycle air-conditioning feature in each apartment and cottage, as does the provision of linen, queen size beds, galley kitchens and comfortable lounge / dining areas. Each kitchen has a two burner cooktop, pots and pans, an electric frypan and microwave.
There are four styles of accommodation, one-bedroom cottages, one-bedroom apartments, a two bedroom family cottage and a two-bedroom attic apartment.
This elegant self-contained accommodation has been developed in the extensive grounds of one of Bright's most distinctive homes. A few minutes stroll along the path by the river will take you to the heart of Bright village with its cafes, restaurants and gift shops.
Merrimeet has featured in a number of newspaper and magazine articles, most particularly in a feature article on Bright in Country Style magazine. Merrimeet has been an invited participant in the Australian Open Garden Scheme and is frequently the choice of local brides for their wedding photos.

Riverdeck is one of two one bedroom self contained cottages. They both compliment the old world apartment building with high roofs and rendered walls blending in to the rustic gardens.
It has a queen size bed, a double spa bath, a wood fire and a well equipped galley kitchen. To enter the cottage you will meander past rockeries and ponds and the private deck looks directly over the lawns to an embankment down to the Ovens River.
Middle Cottage is the second of two one bedroom self contained cottages. It is the more secluded of the two, tucked away from sight with a wide deck at the entrance.
It has a queen size bed, a double spa bath, a wood fire and a well equipped galley kitchen. You will wind through thick gardens along a path to the hidden entrance. Shared barbecue facilities are nearby and the Canyon Walk running beside the Ovens River is at the bottom of the lawns.
Stonewall Cottage is the larger of the three cottages. With a spacious living area and two large bedrooms with queen beds, this is the family cottage.
French doors open on to a verandah with a large private courtyard. There is a wood fire and a large kitchen ideal for catering for families. It sleeps four comfortably and a comfortable, single, fold out bed or travel cot are available upon request.
Lychgate is the first of two self contained ground floor one-bedroom apartments with a queen size bed, an ensuite with a double spa bath and wood fire. Being triple brick with terra cotta floors, it is snug in winter and cool in summer.
The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare meals or a tasty snack to be enjoyed in seating by the entrance, lit up by an old coach lamp. Lychgate Apartment is adjacent to a old wooden gate which opens to a barbecue area and continues down to the Ovens River and swimming hole.

Woodsmoke is accessed through a rustic garden gate decorated with beautiful mosaic panels. The lounge and bedrooms look out to a fountain beyond which are sweeping views and access to the stunning gardens.
The Mews is a spacious, upstairs apartment with two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other, a double bed. The main bedroom has a corner spa. The Mews is not suitable for children
The living area has views of the beautiful gardens and the magnificent Tudor style of the Merrimeet residence. At one end of the living space is a wood burning fire, at the other there is a private decking area set high in the trees with glimpses of the Ovens River through the trees.

Cancellation and booking policy
In most cases a deposit will be required within a week of booking - the balance to be paid on arrival.If a deposit has not been received within a week of booking and no contact has been made to us within that week, the booking may be cancelled.In some cases if booking less than a week prior to arrival, deposit arrangements can be negotiated.Balance of payment can be made by credit card, cheque madeout to Merrimeet, Direct Banking: BSB - 633-000 A/C -129630109 Name - P.Shirrefs, or in cash.When deposits are received it is accepted as a two-way contract. The operator will honour your booking and expect the same in return. However if circumstances necessitate a cancellation, deposits will be refunded if reasonable notice is given - one month's notice, full deposit return - two week's notice, half deposit return, - one week's notice, forfeit deposit.When a cancelled booking is re-booked by the operator, the deposit will be returned less a $25 administration fee.
