Shady Brook Cottages are self contained deluxe alpine cottages and bed and breakfast surrounded by 14 acres of forest and the Ovens River. Situated only 500 meters from the centre of Harrietville.

Each cottage has it own deck and barbecue and are beautifully appointed secluded in five acres of magnificent tranquil gardens. Great views of the Feathertop ranges. From your cottage hear the Ovens river as it flows out of pristine mountain ranges.

Whether it be the snow in the winter, or walks into the Alpine national park through spring to Autumn its right on your doorstep. Harrietville offers many short historical walks with hotels restaurants, general store and all your ski hire.

Take day trip to historic towns and wineries or into Bright (20 minutes drive) for a shop, and then return from the hustle and bustle to your quiet secluded alpine cottage, sit on the deck and watch the setting sun over mountain ranges and enjoy a great local wine.

Walk up our own private tracks to old disused gold mines take in the magnificent views. Shady Brook offers something that is truly unique that's why so many of their visitors return again and again.

This is truly alpine accommodation that offers you all the comforts in one of the great gardens in the valley where bush, river and garden merge into one great Eden. You are invited by arrangement to visit their gardens and inspect the cottages.

Each year they are open to the spring and Autumn festivals and are regularly toured by garden groups and have ABC gardening personal use their gardens for tours and discussions. Make it a destination even if you are not staying at Shady Brook Cottages you will not be disappointed.

One Bedroom Alpine Delux Cottage

The purpose built Alpine Cottages have a separate bedroom with queen size bed, all with linen, towels provided, self contained with electric heating. Situated only 30 metres from the Ovens river in a magnificent landscaped garden setting. Surrounded by natural bush with your own walking tracks. Own deck and barbecue, undercover parking and shared laundry. This is a unique holiday destination surrounded by alpine mountains within 500mts of the Mountain village of Harrietville, hear the river running, see a large variety of native birds. A double Sofa bed is available in lounge, we also supply a single fold up bed for an additional person. There are two one bedroom cottages Breakfast maybe ordered in advance either continental or English. Maximum of four people per cottage0

Two Bedroom Alpine Delux Spa Cottage

The Alpine deluxe spa cottage is fully self contained, has a queen size bed in main room , two singles and fold out bed can be put in the second bedroom. The cottage has a spa and wood fire along with all electric heating. Own deck with BBQ, breakfast maybe ordered in advance either continental or English. There is no charge for babies using their own cots. The cottage is secluded set in 5 plus acres of magnificent landscaped gardens,native forest at its backdoor and walking tracks to be explored, ideal for families room to play and ride bikes only 500 metre from the centre of Harrietville, on the Ovens River. Multitude of birds and other wild life can be seen. Maximum of five people.0

Bed and breakfast spa apartment

The Bed and Breakfast spa apartment is self contained provides all linen and has two bedrooms, continental breakfast supplied. Under same roof line as house, has its own separate entry. Set on 14 acres fronting the ovens river five acres of magnificent gardens nine acres of private bush with walking tracks, mountain views and gold mines, situated at the base of mount Hotham and mount feather top. Whether you are wanting that quiet romantic getaway in beautiful tranquil settings or bring the family there is room to play, explore and for the kids to ride their bikes. All this and only 10 minutes lazy walk from eateries, hotels, general store, walks and pioneer park and historic sites all in Harrietville. Maximum of five people.0

Cancellation and booking policy

They require a minimum of a one nights deposit to secure the booking, the balance payable on arrival. Deposits unless in exceptional circumstances are not refundable but are transferable to another time. If a deposit is refunded a 20 per cent administrative fee applies to cover costs.
