Take the time to explore Robert O'Hara Burke Museum, one of Australia's oldest museums which is often referred to as a 'Museum of Museums'.

Originally built as the Beechworth Athenaeum in 1857 the museum houses a significant collection from the 1800's that includes the R.E. Johns Aboriginal collection, Ned Kelly's death mask, a large collection of native animal and birdlife taxidermy and the unique street of shops.

The Robert O'Hara Burke Museum is named in honour of Robert O'Hara Burke, former Superintendent of Police, after this death at Coopers Creek in 1861 on the Burke & Wills exploration.
