Jones Winery & Vineyard Cafe is the perfect place to enjoy fine French themed dishes matched to their hand crafted wines whilst looking over the vineyard and soaking up the history and atmosphere of the heritage listed cellar door. Depending on the season they serve dishes such as French onion soup, boeuf bourgignon, croque monsieur and goat's cheese salad.Owner and winemaker Mandy Jones spent 14 years in France and managed to fit in gastronomic studies at Le Cordon Bleu amongst wine making duties, hence the French theme. Head chef at Jones Cafe, Kate Akrap, has a wealth of experience, having worked with Peter Weir at Beaumonts and Cath Claringbold at Meccabar. Kate lends a light touch to traditional French recipes and focuses on local, seasonal produce when creating the frequently updated menu. Open for lunch on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they also serve coffee and cake for morning tea or late afternoon nibbles on these days. Contents vary seasonally and with dietary requirements. A hamper for two is $70 or add an ice-cold bottle of Rose or Marsanne, or an Original Label Shiraz (with two stemless wine glasses) for an extra $40.
