Scion was established in 2002 on a small hill just south of the Rutherglen township. The site was chosen for its unique combination of soils, northern aspect and gentle slope. After planting eight acres of vines, a Cellar Door was built taking advantage of views across beautiful Australian countryside.

Wines are made on-site by Rowly Milhinch, a great-great-great grandson of George Francis Morris, the founding father of Morris Wines (est. 1859). The historic Rutherglen wine region was a natural choice in which to establish Scion.

With an emphasis on quality, the vineyard is managed and harvested by hand. This artisan approach continues through to the winery to create a focused range of white, red and after-dinner wines.
