Take in the spectacle of Australian Football League (AFL) games – also known as Aussie Rules – between March and September at at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne's modern Docklands precinct. Local pubs buzz with pre-match anticipation and punters seeking solace or celebration after a game. A-League football matches are held during spring and summer, and T20 Big Bash cricket matches are also played at the stadium. Occasional music concerts are a highlight.
Popular meeting places for the stadium include the External Super Screen, near the Gate 3 ticket kiosk and the LiveWire Public Entertainment precinct, Concourse Café, Gate 2. Food and drink kiosks and bars operate around the stadium on event days, while there are plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes and snack bars in the surrounding Docklands area and in the CBD.
An elevated, 20-metre wide pedestrian bridge provides access to the
front entrance of Etihad Stadium from Southern Cross Station. On match days, enter from either the Bourke Street Extension (Car Park B & B), or Wurundjeri Way (Car Park D & E). Staff are on duty to help with directions. Non-match days, enter through Car Park B from the Bourke Street Extension.
