Country, blues, roots, jazz, folk, world music - The Basement Discs gives over an entire store to these genres, instead of just a token shelf. Stocking a wide and eclectic range, they concentrate a little less on mainstream artists and more on obscure, little known performers. This haven for lovers of tune and melody promotes genres obscured by the bombardment of highly commercialised musical clones on our airwaves. Knowledge and service are perhaps the store’s most distinguishing features; staff will happily hunt down that esoteric CD or recommend further additions to your audio library. M. PADULA
