South-western Victoria is home to some of the most spectacular coastal and inland scenery in the state. It is also home to the critical Glenelg Ark project, a fox control program covering 90,000 hectares of State forest and National Park. This is a collaborative, landscape-scale project undertaken by the Department of Environment and Primary Industries and Parks Victoria. You will help support the recovery of native mammals, birds and reptiles, by protecting them from fox predation. On this exclusive Naturewise experience, you will have an opportunity to directly contribute to the Glenelg Ark project by taking part in a number of engaging, hands-on conservation activities. You will experience the best that south-west Victoria has to offer, as we take you to 'the jewel in the crown' of the Lower Glenelg National Park - the renowned Princess Margaret Rose Cave, explore the volcanic feature of Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, and learn more about the Aboriginal heritage of the traditional owners, the Worn Gundidj. We also visit the magnificent Cape Nelson Lighthouse and the picturesque surrounds of Nelson and Cape Bridgewater. You will encounter some of the iconic native animals along the way, including one of Australia's largest Fur Seal colonies.

Conservation Volunteers offers Naturewise Conservation Holidays, they are quality, small group ecotour experiences where you get to make a real difference to the conservation of Australia's unique environment.

Naturewise Conservation Holidays embraces the principles of responsible travel combining conservation with exploration. Their aim is to connect visitors with Australia's beautiful and unique natural areas, while helping to ensure their future preservation. The Naturewise programs are award recognised and Ecotourism certified.

Naturewise Conservation Holidays range from two days to two weeks. Each program offers the opportunity to visit unique destinations, get close to nature and explore the great outdoors, while contributing to conservation.

The time spent undertaking conservation activities typically makes up 30 to 40 per cent of the trip with the other time spent touring such as bush walks, Island tours, wildlife viewing and visiting National Parks.

No experience is required to participate in a Naturewise Conservation Holidays program, though you should be reasonably fit and active and declare any pre-existing medical conditions at the time of booking.

Program prices include accommodation, meals, program leader, transfers from the designated pick up point, park or reserve entry fees and scheduled activities. All programs are led by an experienced guide, and on some programs you are joined by visiting researchers.
