Through historical photographs and personal stories, this exhibition presents the chronology of the First World War (1914-19) with particular reference to the contribution of Victorians.

Find out about the hardships that Australians endured and the battles they fought alongside Allied nations, from the landings at Gallipoli to the battles in Palestine, Passchendaele and Fromelles. Away from the frontline, discover the experiences of Australians back home in Victoria, and their contribution to the war effort. Also learn about the growing social divisions which climaxed in the bitterly contested and ultimately unsuccessful conscription referenda in 1916 and 1917.
