Contemporary Art and Traditional Quilts featuring diverse quilting techniques and each with its own unique story to tell on display in this gorgeous array of quilts. Quilt exhibitions are usually about the quilt. Today, quilts are not only valued for comfort but have become a means of expression as a form of textile art. This exhibition is about the stories of the individual quilt maker.
Eleven outstanding Victorian Quilters display their top creations - ranging from the most traditional through to the most contemporary, in this wonderful Collection of 'the art of the quilt'.
Linda Bear, Lesley Goddard, Anne Sushames and Toni Warrell work in the traditional style of patterns & imagery.
Dijanne Cevaal, Felicity Griffin Clark, Susan Mathews, Sarah Louise Ricketts, Robina Summers, Olga Walters and Fiona Wright are amongst Australia's foremost Contemporary Art Quilters. They have exhibited internationally many times and their quilts are in numerous Australian and overseas collections.
Stitching Stories is an inspiring exhibition which shows how beautifully quilts can tell stories through stitching.
