Christopher Handran is a Brisbane-based artist whose practice explores the mediation of experience by technologies and seeks to foreground the perceptual dimensions of spectatorship. Time Lapse brings together two such technologies, the camera obscura and the clock.
Most often cited as a precursor to the photographic camera, the camera obscura is also an apparatus that historically informed the understanding of perception and acted as a model for conceiving of the perceiving subject. This exhibition places the spectator inside this historical apparatus, creating a space in which to watch time passing?
