Melbourne Writers Festival is Melbourne's annual, two-week celebration for everyone who reads. The Festival brings together writers from around the world to celebrate literature, explore ideas, and inspire readers through a vibrant program of storytelling, conversation and discussion, intellectual debate, educational programs, live performance, music and art events. The Festival includes events for people of all ages and more than a quarter of the program is free.

Melbourne Writers Festival is held at a range of venues across Melbourne, from its Festival Hub at Fed Square to Melbourne Town Hall, the Athenaeum Theatre and the Wheeler Centre, as well as at regional venues in in Aireys Inlet and Ballarat.

In 2016 there will be thought-provoking discussion exploring the hottest topical issues as well as events for bookworms, foodies, television-addicts and pop-culture lovers.

MWF welcomes people with access requirements. Most venues have wheelchair access, selected events have Auslan interpreters and many venues provide hearing loops. Details are included on venue pages of the MWF website.
