With the FIFA World Cup in full swing and the AFL season entering its most exciting phase closer to home, the National Sports Museum (NSM) is inviting kids to celebrate all things football these winter school holidays.
There will also be an opportunity to check out the museum's latest exhibition, Gold for Australia! Stories of our sporting medals, and participate in a range of interactive activities.
Representatives from a number of sports will visit the NSM to share their sporting tips, including AFL Victoria who is on board to help kids fast track their footy development with a special clinic.
Kids can test their goal-kicking skills against AFL players, run out the batsman on a virtual cricket pitch, put their hand-eye coordination to the test and kick, throw, shoot, ride, race and run to their heart's content in Game On!
As Australia's athletes prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, kids will can share in the excitement and make their own medals, dress up like their Olympic heroes and have their photo taken on the original medal dais from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
At the Coaches Courtyard, kids will be able to participate in 'make and take' activities, including creating their own 'funky foam' AFL and soccer-inspired jewellery.
Weekend hours may vary during major events. See the National Sports Museum website for details.
