The exciting APRA Tropscore competition has opened up to kids 15 and under!
This three day workshop (spread over 10 days) teaches kids the skills to compose and sync an original musical soundtrack to a short film provided by Tropfest, to enter into the Tropscore Jr competition. The course will be led by Joshua Cowie, a finalist in the 2013 adult Tropscore competition, and with his guidance, participants will plan, write and score their music and learn the art of audio post production. A number of different musical software packages can be used, including Acid, Sibelius, Garageband or Reason or participants can record instruments live in the DLH's professional recording studio.
Kids participating in this workshop should have a relatively high level of music knowledge to begin with, but some variation can be catered for with the loop based programs Acid and Garageband. If you've always wanted to write music for film, this is the workshop for you!
Parents will need to attend all sessions with their children.
