As if November in Melbourne couldn't get any better, The Age Good Food Month presented by Citi bolts out of the gates with a bumper program of culinary delights celebrating Victoria's world-class food and drinking scene.
In its second year, Good Food Month returns with a line-up of culinary greats, including chef, restaurateur, author and all-round global sensation Yotam Ottolenghi; Italy's biggest skinny Italian chef and contemporary art doyen Massimo Bottura; and arguably one of the most important food thinkers of this time and the woman who put a kitchen garden in The White House, Alice Waters, making her first ever trip to Australia.
Alongside this stellar field of imports are local stars such as The Age Good Food Guide Chef of the Year Andrew McConnell, Melbourne's favourite son Shannon Bennett of Vue de Monde, and rising challengers like Dave Verheul of The Town Mouse - all part of the action-packed program of more than 350 events.
Melburnians can expect an opening weekend full of fire and flavour, smoke and sizzle with Saturday's day of Barbecue Madness. Take your pick from beers and rare-breed meats by the river at The General Assembly at South Wharf, Meatmother's hot chicken challenge, Thai Beach BBQ at Red Spice Road and the food truck barbecue cook-off at the Testing Grounds in Southbank.
Good Food Month has every meal of the day covered with Breakfast Club, Let's Do Lunch, Hats Off Dinners, Good Dinners Under $30 and Let's Do Dessert menus all on offer.
