Anglicare Victoria is searching for 200 brave volunteers to abseil down a Melbourne skyscraper in support of children living in foster care.

Altitude Shift gives people the chance to test their nerve on St James building in Bourke St, while raising funds for Victorian children who can't live with their parents.

The event is probably the most adventurous way people can help a child in need.

Altitude Shift is all about taking people out of their comfort zone.

Abseiling down a skyscraper is a 'bucket list' experience, but it's also an extraordinary way to raise money for an incredibly important cause.

All money raised will go towards programs that create positive, lasting change in the lives of Victoria's most vulnerable children.

Anglicare Victoria are aiming to raise at least $150,000, but they are putting the challenge out there to participants to raise even more.

If you think dressing up as Spiderman will help you raise money, then do it.

Anglicare Victoria is Victoria's largest foster care provider, currently housing over 400 children per night. The placements and support services give stability and a sense of hope to children unable to live with their natural families.

Altitude Shift is open to anyone over 16 (with parental permission under 18), regardless of shape, fitness or ability. It's being run in conjunction with Urban Descent, an adventure/ abseil company with a 100 per cent safety record. Qualified abseil professionals will be on-site and will prepare and guide each participant on the day.
