Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival
Dates: 2 Feb 2014

The Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival is a family-friendly event to bring a vibrant taste of Japan to Melbourne with spectacular cultural demonstration.
Held each February the Summer Festival honours the tradition of the 'Bon Festival', a festival held in Japan to give thanks to one's ancestors. The summer festival here also doubles as the perfect way to spend the day outdoors under the Melbourne sunshine and immerse yourself in a jam packed day of all things Japanese.
Indulge in food and beverage delights by the River Terrace, get the kids to join one of the many family friendly activities, like origami classes, or perhaps even join the cultural highlight of the day, the 'Bon' dance, where everyone is welcome to participate.
The main stage hosts martial arts demonstrations, song and dance performances and the announcement of the winners of the grand raffle draw.
