Leadbeater Eco Tours are the small group specialists for the Dandenong and Yarra Ranges. They are named after Victoria's endangered State Emblem the Leadbeater's Possum.
Their day trips are fully inclusive and because they limit passenger numbers for each tour to a maximum of thirteen, you really feel like you are getting a more personal service. Their friendly professional guides will also take good care of you, keeping you entertained as you explore the region.
They focus on destinations close to Melbourne, which helps to limit travel time while giving you more time to explore. They really try to think of everything!
Depending on which tour you choose, one of those destinations you will visit might be Toolangi forest. Toolangi is an indigenous word meaning 'Tall Tree', and you'll get to see why this is a perfect word for the forest. It is predominantly a Mountain Ash forest, which are some of the tallest trees in the world.
It is also just a short drive from Healesville Sanctuary, a favourite spot for travellers near and far. Set in a natural bush setting the Sanctuary's paths wind through different habitat areas showcasing animals like Koala's, Kangaroos, Platypus, Wombats, Possums and Wedge Tailed Eagles. A truly wonderful place.
Another highlight of their tours is an hour-long ride on Australia's premiere preserved Steam Railway, the Puffing Billy. Servicing Victorian's for over a century, the Puffing Billy is now a major tourist attraction and a real treat, not to be missed.
All tours include lunch and a complimentary shuttle service to and from your accommodation if you are staying in or close to Melbourne.
