Melbourne Birding Tours are privileged to be given the opportunity to conduct tours on Nardoo Hills, one of many reserves owned and managed by Bush Heritage Australia.
This outstanding reserve encompasses several habitats including Plains grassy woodlands, Hillcrest herb-rich woodland, Box-ironbark forest and Broombush mallee.
This mix of different habitats means it is wonderful place for biodiversity. Due to the fact that the surrounding areas mainly consist of farmland, this reserve attracts birds from all around as it stands out because it is in such good condition. The density of birds found on the reserve is amazing. Birds, such as the Hooded Robin abound here whereas they are difficult to find outside of Nardoo Hills. The continuing management of the reserve ensures that this place is only going to improve with time.
This two day tour begins from Melbourne, travelling three hours to Wedderburn and then onto Nardoo Hills Reserve, spending the afternoon exploring the reserve. We'll stay at Wychitella, dining at the pub and staying at the cosy cottage next door. Early the next morning after breakfast we'll catch the dawn chorus at Nardoo Hills, exploring more of the reserve before returning to Melbourne.
