IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Melbourne

03 9429 7800

20 Mar 2016

Debuting on the world stage in 2012, the IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship takes place in the sporting capital of Australia, Melbourne.

IRONMAN is a long distance triathlon consisting of a four kilometre swim followed by a 180 kilometre bike finishing with a gruelling 42.2 kilometre run.

IRONMAN Asia Pacific Championship is one of only five championships in the world with qualifying spots for the World Championships in Kona Hawaii.

With a swim start in Frankston, south of the city, the bike course incorporates the Eastlink Tollway, a world-class expressway closed exclusively for the use of competitors on race day. The iconic point to point run course commences at Frankston and concludes in St Kilda, in the shadows of the skyline of Melbourne.

The popular event draws the locals out to watch and support from Frankston all the way to the finish line in St Kilda. Truly one of the most inspirational sites you will ever witness, with some athletes crossing the line within seconds of the 17 hour cut off. An amazing experience. Get down there and watch and support these athletes from all over the world.
