Stunned, is the expression on everyone's face as they walk towards thousands of towering cacti at Cactus Country, Strathmerton in Northern Victoria.

The collection of plants up to 55 years old has become a favourite destination not just for the avid collector but for the many tourists that visit The Murray region.

Once you are out amongst the plants you really do feel like you are in another world. There are approximately 4,000 different species from North America and Mexico, South America and Africa.

The spectacular flowers and unusual sculptures these unique plants provide will entice even the non-gardener. Kids can enjoy spotting the different plants on the Spotto Trail, which is educational as well.

There is an extensive plant sales area for the easy care garden, and assistance to help you get started. Stop by the colourful cafe with great coffee and their unique Cactus Cake. Or enjoy a corona or Margarita in the Mexican style courtyard. Cactus Country caters for groups, give them a call for the group menu and tour rates.
