Mildura Paddlesteamers is a family owned and operated business offering river cruises on the Murray river at Mildura on board one of their three paddle steam vessels.
The Paddle Steamer Melbourne was built in 1912 and recently celebrated her 100th birthday. The Melbourne was originally built for the Victorian Government as a snagging boat to keep the main channel open for navigation.
Still driven by her original steam engine and boiler the Melbourne operates two hour cruises twice daily from the Mildura Wharf. The cruise journeys downstream through Lock 11, passengers can enjoy the unique experience of travelling through a Lock along with live commentary on the river and its history.
The Paddle Vessel Rothbury was built in 1881 as a large and powerful tow boat and is renown as one of the fastest paddleboats on the Murray River. The Rothbury operates several different cruises. On Thursdays the Rothbury cruises to the picturesque Trentham Estate Winery where passengers enjoy wine tasting and tour followed by a Gourmet barbecue lunch.
Thursday evenings offers a dinner cruise with live music on board. The Rothbury's floodlights light up the riverbank to see magnificent River red gum reflections. Seasonally on a Tuesday offers a cruise to the historic Gol Gol hotel for lunch overlooking the river.
The Paddleboat Mundoo specialises in group function hire for conferences, weddings and social occasions featuring quality timber decor and dining facilities up to 180 guests. Special event and public cruises operate throughout the year including Country Music Festival, Jazz Food and Wine weekend, Christmas and New Year cruises.
All vessels depart from the Mildura Wharf and are fully licensed and air conditioned. Please contact Paddlesteamers Melbourne, Rothbury and Mundoo for more information.
