Greater Hume Shire has an abundance of natural landscapes for you to enjoy from Woomargama National Park to the award winning Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre. Steeped in history, the shire has many museums that reflect on the important contributions made by pioneers of the past as well as local legends. Museums such as the Jindera Pioneer Museum, the Headlie Taylor Header Museum, Holbrook Submarine Museum, Station House Museum Culcairn and The Woolpack Inn Museum Holbrook all play an important role in telling the stories of the past. As you travel through the countryside you will recognise the many famous icons that are unique to Greater Hume Shire. See Morgan's Lookout, a natural rock formation that was the hideout of "Mad Dog Morgan" an infamous bushranger of the past. Or follow the iconic Henty Man along the Olympic Highway. Submerge yourself aboard HMAS OTWAY in Holbrook, a Submarine residing over 400km from the nearest seaport. Travel to Brocklesby where you will find the famous Arvo Anson landing site where a skilled pilot landed two planes that had become entangled after a mid-air collision.
