Ever wondered just how hard it is to engage strangers on the street with a simple question? We thought we'd find out. Those who stop and give their time to a stranger are in for quite a surprise.
Two Melbourne cast members of the smash hit musical theatre production Come From Awayvisit the busy city centres of Sydney and Auckland, to find out what happens when you take a chance on a human connection.
Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of thousands of stranded passengers in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States. Planes were sent to airports around Canada for emergency landings, including that of the small town of Gander in Newfoundland.
The people of Gander received these diverted and frightened passengers with wide open arms, welcoming them into their town and their homes. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships, all a result of human kindness.
Come From Away premiered in Australia at Melbourne's Comedy Theatre from July 2019 to March 2020.
