Mountains and mysteries

Climb to the top of Mount Macedon, one of the highest peaks in the range, and take in magnificent views from the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross and the Camels Hump lookout. Monument Hill in Kilmore also offers sweeping views across the surrounding region. 

Just outside of Woodend lies the iconic Hanging Rock, scene of the famous book and film Picnic at Hanging Rock. Pack your own picnic lunch and explore the unique rock formations.

Quiet corners

Enjoy a short walk through native bushland to the stunning Trentham Falls, where you can watch the water cascade 32 metres over ancient basalt columns.

The Macedon Ranges is home to some of Victoria's most beautiful private gardens, including Duneira, Tieve Tara and Forest Glade. Access information is available through the Open Gardens Victoria scheme. Visit in autumn to witness the riot of colour as the trees come alive with vivid reds, oranges and yellows.
