What happens when you pair up Australian Diamonds Liz Watson and Sophie Garbin (the Power Couple), Jo Weston and Rudi Ellis (the Master and Apprentice) and Amy Parmenter and Kiera Austin (the Smiling Assassins) then send them on a race across Melbourne? They discover some hidden talents as well as check out some of Melbourne’s gems.

Faster Pasta

Jo: The first clue told us to head to the street synonymous with Melbourne’s Italian community and find a spot named after three comedian brothers.

Rudi: Jo and I knew it was Lygon Street, but it took us a moment to find Johnny, Vince & Sam’s Ristorante, named after the Sooshi Mango characters. The test here was to cook a cotoletta with an Italian slaw in 30 minutes.

Amy: You’re not the best cook, but you’re more of a cook than me.

Kiera: I’d give us an A for effort!

Challenge Accepted

Jo: The next challenge was to catch the Number 1 Tram along Swanston Street to Presgrave Place. When we got there, there was an artist from Blender Studios who gave us a lesson with a spray can.

Amy: That was a first for me. Look I’ve put on spray tan before…

Kiera:… but never spray paint!

Mix It Up

Liz: For our next challenge we had to make our way on foot to Forum Melbourne. We had to mix two tunes together on the decks to get our final clue.

Amy: Wiki wiki wiki! We did that!

Sophie: The final clue was to make our way on foot to where a netball legend has been immortalised in bronze. Liz and I knew that was obviously the statue of legendary former Aussie netball captain Sharelle McMahon near John Cain Arena.

Good Sports

Liz: So, Sophie and I won! What a massive day. We definitely uncovered a few Melbourne diamonds too.

Kiera: It was exciting being immersed in Melbourne, to learn how to spray paint and dabble in DJing – we’ll add that to our resume!

Jo: I loved going inside such an iconic landmark like the Forum, that was really special. Although we weren’t the overall winners, I definitely think we were the winners on the DJ front.
