Anne Lawson is a Melbourne artist who creates works on paper that show the delicacy of the natural world. Her realistic, detailed feathers, leaves and nests, created in watercolour, graphite, and pen and ink, reflect her background in botanic art.
Lately Anne has been experimenting with different combinations of media - oil pastels and ink, watercolour and sewing on paper, wool and tapestry canvas ~ to help her express the inspiration she finds in trees in the landscape. Using these media she has been able to create more abstract and expressive works.
She became a full-time artist after leaving teaching. While she has attended classes, she is largely self-taught, allowing her to be adventurous with ideas and materials. Anne’s work has been sent to many parts of the world.
