If you are looking for a great day of fun and entertainment for the whole family on Australia Day, then look no further than Broadford.
The Broadford Australia Day Festival celebrates what it means to be Australian, with a range of special attractions, activities and displays. It also includes Kids Korner, Food Court, Tug-o-War Challenge and live music from Van-Yt, all on the shady lawns of the Island Reserve in High Street Broadford – just bring your chairs and your picnic rug.
The Broadford Historic Precinct will be open, with expert information, tours and a special display Sporting Clubs of Broadford. The ‘Hangout’ at the Broadford Skate Park, is designed just for young adults and students - the main attraction being free skateboard coaching and live music from the popular Flaxxon.
The day kicks off at 7:30am with the traditional Lion’s Club Community Brekkie at Lions Park and finishes at around 3:00pm.
At 10:00am there will be an official Flag Raising Ceremony, featuring our local Australia Day Ambassador. At 11:00am the Mayor and Councillors will announce the 2018 Shire Awards and conduct a Citizenship Ceremony, with musical support from the Mitchell Concert Band.
