Omeo Cattlemen 100 MTB is a regional cycling event spanning across, Omeo, Omeo Valley and Benambra, specifically highlighting the High Country’s incredible landscape acting as a ‘teaser’ for the forthcoming Mountain Bike Track. The proposed event date is the 1st of November 2020, the Sunday before the Melbourne Cup.
The Omeo Cattlemen100 MTB is based on a similar event in the US Midwest, the famous Leadville 100 MTB, first held in 1994 and has become one of the best marketed, attended and known MTB marathon in the US.
“100” stands for One Hundred Miles (160km) of cross country mountain bike and no less than 3500 altimeters. This will be one of Australia’s toughest cycling events, attracting competitors from all over the country and beyond.
The event will showcase the Omeo Region beyond the well-known Great Alpine Road. Gravel roads and other back roads only known to locals will be part of our race route taking riders over Mount Gingee Munjie, Splitters Range, around Lake Omeo in Benambra and back to Omeo over Mount Sam where riders go past the main trailhead for the Omeo MTB trails.
Expression of interest ONLY due to COVID19 restrictions. Example only of ticket prices.
