Narkoojee, meaning 'place of flowers' is located in Eastern Gippsland where the cool, long ripening period produces classic, cool climate wines.
Narkoojee Winery is nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range in a beautiful setting with magnificent views of the Strzelecki Ranges, approximately two hours drive from Melbourne city.
At the Cellar door, visitors can taste the hand-crafted wines and linger for the magnificent food in the restaurant 'by Jorg' at Narkoojee.
Narkoojee’s wine range includes chardonnay, sparkling chardonnay, viognier, merlot, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, sparkling cabernet and a rosé. Axel Friend is now the chief winemaker, sharing the role with his father Harry who with his wife Val, established and developed the grapegrowing and winemaking enterprise.
James Halliday has described Narkoojee's wines as consistently immaculate, with two wines previously listed in his top 100. The 2019 edition of the Halliday Wine Companion has rated Narkoojee as a '5-Red-Star-Winery’.
Winery's cellar door is open daily 10.30am - 4.30pm. Restaurant is open for lunch Thursday to Sunday and dinner on Saturday. Bookings recommend, walk-ins welcome. Please see the website.
