Tambo Wine is a single vineyard winery located close to the Gippsland Lakes and the Bass Strait, on a north east facing slope with low fertility soil.
These factors combine to allow the unique micro climate of the Gippsland Lakes area to express itself through the wines produced.
The wines produced include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Nebbiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon.
"A combination of pure varietal expression and intensity of flavour permeates all Tambo wines" – James Halliday.
The cellar door is open 11:00am to 5:00pm everyday during the summer and autumn holidays and Thursday to Sunday other times. A courtyard is available to enjoy the wines by the glass. You are most welcome to bring food.
Fruit concentration, complexity, balance, length and sense of place are at the heart of great wine. These are characters which can be formed only in the vineyard.
The primary task at Tambo Wine is to grow grapes with these characters which express the site and to maintain the essence of this fruit character to the bottle.
