Macleod Street, Bairnsdale Railway Station, Bairnsdale, Victoria, 3875

The Snowy River National Park boasts some of Victoria's most breathtaking scenery and on this small group tour with Gippsland High Country Tours you will experience waterfalls, plus rugged gorge and mountain views.

Sit on the banks of the legendary Snowy River, listen to the silence and smell fresh bush scents. Walk quietly across McKillops Bridge and hear the story of its construction.

Then on to Errinundra National Park where you will feel dwarfed by immense trees of the old-growth eucalypt forests. Enjoy an easy boardwalk through ancient cool-temperate rainforest where light filters through the canopy onto ferns and moss festooned logs.

High on the Errinundra Plateau, the treetops are often shrouded in mountain mist, creating an atmosphere of its own. Amble along leafy tracks and take in the beauty of these magical forests.

Featuring birds, wildlife and easy walks, this relaxed pace nature tour is fully accommodated with ample time to enjoy the tranquillity of your natural surroundings.

Your guide will help you understand the way plants and animals interact in these different environments. You will not just return home refreshed and relaxed, but with new knowledge and a better understanding of the natural world.

Tour highlights:
  • Snowy River National Park
The legendary Snowy River has carved a rugged valley through this mountainous country and you are treated to magnificent views as you travel through the park and explore on short walks. There will be an opportunity to sit beside the river itself, dabble your toes in the water or even take a dip. Birdlife is prolific, wildlife sightings are a regular joy and your surroundings very peaceful. You will stay in cosy accommodation along the way and all meals are included in the package.
  • McKillop Bridge
An historic bridge over the Snowy River with wonderful short ambles to the river's edge. The river races over smooth river worn rocks and small rapids and lies quietly in deep pools. Birds sing overhead and lizards scuttle along rocks and logs. Sit quietly and imagine the rich life of Aboriginal people who called this remote valley home for tens of thousands of year.
  • Errinundra National Park
High on the Errinundra Plateau you will find a contrasting environment of tall wet eucalypt forests and ancient cool temperate rainforest. These walks mostly follow leafy forest trails where the only sounds are those provided by nature - the wind rustling and birdsong. A delightful boardwalk is provided to experience the rainforest where tree ferns and mosses dominate under the canopy.

Discover nature on a small group, guided eco-tour or walk with Gippsland High Country Tours. Escape from the pressures of everyday life and experience the serenity of East Gippsland and the beyond on a fully packaged tour with cosy accommodation every night.

Gaze over a sea of mountains, breathe in the clear mountain air and touch the smooth trunks of snow-gums. Experience deserted beaches or ancient forests. Listen to bird calls as you wander along fern-lined tracks beneath towering trees or across alpine plains with wildflowers at your feet.

Join a small friendly group of like-minded nature lovers led by experienced local guides, keen to share their love and knowledge of nature with you.

Take your time, appreciate the beauty and listen as your guide explains the interaction of plants and animals. Wildlife sightings are common and leisurely pace allows time for bird watching. Choose short or long walks with magnificent scenery and rich history.

Your guides know that you need a balance of activity and relaxation, so as well as structured activities and walking we allow time to relax and enjoy nature and the unique environments you visit.

Experience solitude, peace and tranquillity and return home truly refreshed.
