Meraki - Doing something with soul, creativity and love. When you put yourself into whatever you are doing, whatever it may be.
Belinda established The Tea Tree Gallery in Portland in 2009 beginning an indulgence in all that is art. Belinda shares an affinity with Gallery 127 and as it very much echoes her own ethos towards supporting regional artists in presenting their art for public view - this is why she chose this beautiful space to launch her first solo exhibition.
First and foremost as an artist in the medium of Assembulage. Belinda’s Meraki exhibition predominantly features works in her journey with a new passion in watercolour and journals her eclectic organic style which hasemerged within this self-taught medium over the past 12 months.
Belinda’s feature piece is from her recent marriage in February. The bridal bouquet was fashioned from pear tree strappings from their orchard and incorporates a hand tanned kelp rose with heirloom jewels belonging to grandmothers past. Finished off with glass bead trinkets paying homeage to her relationship of the years with her husband ‘Kelvin’. Hence affectionately titled exhibition Meraki.
