The 2021 January 26 Survival Day Dawn Ceremony will go ahead as a virtual live streamed event. Due to current COVID19 restrictions gatherings are restricted and we encourage people to watch the ceremony live from their home.
The ceremony is a culturally safe and respectful approach to January 26 and in recognition that this is a difficult day for many in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The Ceremony acknowledges the devastating impact of colonisation and provides a moment of reflection for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to value their resilience and strength.
The Ceremony a provided an important opportunity for the non-Aboriginal community to listen and gain an awareness and understanding and watch and to stand together in solidarity and pause in silence, to reflect on the pain that has been inflicted on Aboriginal people.
The 2020 Ceremony seen over 1000 people in attendance for the inaugural Survival Day Dawn Ceremony, lets all come together in solidarity to peacefully reflect on those who have gone before us. Everyone is welcome to join - Lets unite as one
