From their humble beginnings in 1879 as the Young Men’s General Debating Society, Royal South Street has grown to become one of the largest and the longest running performing arts eisteddfods in Australia.
The inaugural Grand Annual Eisteddfod of Australasia was held in 1891 in Ballarat, attracting some 260 entrants who performed across 10 days of competition.
In 2019 they invite you to join them for a fabulous calendar of events across three locations over 100 days. The competitions, which run from July to November, offer thirteen different theatrical disciplines to young performers including speech and drama, singing, music, dance, calisthenics and many more.
They also have a section for people living with a disability to compete and share their passion for voice, dance, music and theatre called The Arts for All.
