At Ballarat Bird World visitors can see all the colours of Australian bird life, only a short seven minute drive south from Sovereign Hill.
Take a walk along the raised walkway passed the landscaped waterfall and gardens to view the birds on display. Varieties include the gang-gang, major mitchell and red, white and yellow tailed black cockatoos. Stroll through the huge free flight aviary then wander back and maybe have a drink on the outdoor deck amongst the native bird life.
The cafe is open for morning or afternoon teas and light lunches. Air conditioned in summer and a wood fire for those colder months.
The Souvenir Shop stocks a large range of bird souvenirs for all ages.
The "Birds are Dinosaurs" display is now open. Children will be fascinated to see a baby triceratops amongst the gum trees.
