At Ballarat Bird World visitors can see all the colours of Australian bird life, only a short seven minute drive south from Sovereign Hill.
Take a stroll along the raised walkway passed the landscaped waterfall and gardens to view the birds on display. Varieties include the Gang-gang, Major Mitchell and red, white and yellow tailed black cockatoos. A fantastic photo opportunity with a red tailed black cockatoo is available at 11:00am and 2:00pm at no extra charge. Just use your own camera.
The animatronic triceratops dinosaur is also currently on display in a bush setting and is proving to be very popular with all those children who love dinosaurs.
Stroll through the huge free flight aviary then wander back and maybe have a drink on the outdoor deck amongst the native bird life.
The cafe is open all day for morning and afternoon teas. Air conditioned in summer and a wood fire for those colder months. The Gift Shop stocks a large range of bird and dinosaur toys and gifts.
Ballarat Bird World is open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Also open public holidays except Christmas Day.
