Western District Victoria: Notes and Sketches

481 Grampians Road,, Halls Gap, Victoria, 3381
Until 11 Nov 2018

Western District Victoria: Notes and Sketches is a small exhibition representing some of the painted notes and sketches Jenni Mitchell has made along her travels through the hills, plains and valleys of Western Victoria.

Jenni Mitchell is an Australian artist who grew up in the artistic district of Eltham and had lived there for most of her life. Recently Jenni and her husband Mervyn relocated their home and studios to a 14 acre property on the outskirts of Hamilton in the Western District.

Jenni has travelled and exhibited extensively with a focus on ‘The Wild Landscape’ – working in regions such as the Australian Desert around Lake Eyre, the Antarctic, The Arctic, Mongolia Norway and Timor. Since 1999 she has had a connection with the Western District through the purchase of a small cottage used as the get-out-of Melbourne haven. This led to purchasing the Hamilton property to make the Western District a permanent home.
