Suicide is a national issue that tragically claimed the lives of 2,866 people in 2016. That’s 2.2 times more people than our national road toll.
The Puka Up Community Walk has been created to start genuine conversations about this national issue. The Community Walk starts from the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre on Friday the 28 September (AFL Grand Final public holiday) at 9:00am.
Participants will walk a five kilometre course around the streets of Wangaratta, raising community awareness, encouraging involvement and opening up the conversation. Puka Up CEO and AFL legend Wayne Schwass will be attending the event and is going to speak about how his organisation Puka Up is raising awareness about this very important issue.
As a community, Wangaratta has been devastatingly touched by tragic suicides in recent months and years. The community needs to unite and walk alongside one another and start this conversation. Please invite all your relatives, friends and members of our community to take a stand with us.
